Match 3, Spring 2007

Another Bank Holiday Monday, another piece of history.

With inferior numbers (6) the doughty Casuals stood firm against the Kenfica hordes (7) and fought off wave after wave of their vicious onslaughts (they're really quite good at the old 'give and go').

The astroturf pitches of the Hamlet resembled the blood soaked plains of Thermopylae and so it was that the rresult, eventually, would reflect that of antic lore - I think the Spartans also lost 2-0.

Well done to all that could make it. It was a cracking team performance from Andy steadfast in goal to Marco bravely taking on three players at once up front.

To those of you that were not there; weep that you will not be able to tell your grandchildren that you stood shoulder to shoulder with your immortal fellows on that historic night... ;-p
